Women’s Residential Treatment Programs in Newport Beach, CA

Research has shown that women are unfortunately less likely to seek addiction treatment than men. Once women do make the brave choice to seek treatment, their chances at a successful experience are increased if they can benefit from a supportive, gender-specific treatment experience. To best serve our female population, Northbound offers gender-responsive treatment for women through our residential Women’s CORE and Women’s LINKS (a similar program to CORE but with a Christian-based approach) programs. Our women’s treatment center in Orange County provides women with a safe and supportive environment where they can focus on recovery. Women engage in gender-specific treatment to reduce distractions and allow them to delve more deeply into issues many females struggle with such as shame, grief, communication and relationship difficulties, codependency, body image, and trauma.

Explore Educational Opportunities through the Collegebound Program

Addiction treatment does not have to be a barrier to education. Furthering one’s education enhances self-efficacy, engages the mind in a productive and growth-oriented fashion, and provides a meaningful bridge to future success and fulfillment – factors that promote a thriving experience of life and decrease chances for relapse.

Northbound’s Collegebound program, supports women interested in pursuing their education. Whether the individual needs to complete high school, obtain a GED, or is interested in taking courses at local colleges, universities, or trade schools, our Collegebound Program is here to help. Clients who choose to participate in this signature service receive educational coaching and ongoing support, tutoring, supervised study time, assistance applying for school, course selection mentoring, and help navigating transcripts and logistical issues with previous learning institutions.  Residential clients also receive transportation services to and from class.

Transition Back into the Workforce with the Careerbound® Program

Whether you are re-engaging with an established career or looking for a new job, Northbound’s Careerbound® Program can help you make employment a healthy part of your recovery lifestyle. Our staff helps with job placement, work skills development, stress management, and more while supporting women in balancing their career, personal life, and recovery efforts. At the same time, women continue to participate in therapy, process groups, and 12-Step meetings.

Strengthen Your Faith Through LINKS

LINKS is Northbound’s Christian-based treatment program. Women can explore how faith, addiction treatment, and ongoing recovery interrelate and receive the spiritual support they seek. Through women’s addiction treatment, Orange County clients have the opportunity to attend local church services and combine the principles of the 12 steps with the spiritual principles of Christianity.

Work through Trauma in the Trauma Program

Trauma is an underlying issue in many instances of addiction. Some women underestimate the effect that events from their past have had on their life. The trauma program provides individual trauma therapies including EMDR, psychoeducation, symptom management, trauma focused gender-specific process groups, and experiential opportunities for shared processing. Women are able to understand trauma, heal the wounds it has caused, and deepen their personal growth and emerging recovery identity.

Overcoming Dual Diagnosis

It is not uncommon for women struggling with substance use disorders to also have one or more mental health disorders. This could include conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or personality disorders. Northbound’s dual diagnosis program treats both conditions simultaneously and helps women develop the healthy habits to heal in both areas and reduce their risk for relapse. Through education, medication management, and targeted treatment interventions, women can learn to manage their mental health and develop coping skills to promote long-term recovery from addiction.

Learning to Live in Recovery

Recovery should not be boring. Women have the opportunity to participate in meditation, yoga and fitness classes, evidence-based therapy, equine therapy, surfing, expressive arts, experiential learning activities, and other recreational activities to overcome the challenges of addiction and relearn how to have fun in their sobriety. The beach is only a few miles away from the women’s rehab center in Orange County, and there are plenty of ways to enjoy the great outdoors and build healthier routines. As women gain more independence, they engage in community activities and outings to help ease the transition following inpatient treatment and learn how to cope with real-time issues without sacrificing their recovery.

Comprehensive Approach to Treatment

Northbound’s fully integrated treatment programs address the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of addiction and mental health recovery. Through individual and group therapy, psychoeducation, experiential learning activities, and an extended treatment continuum designed around our In Vivo® model of care, women learn to identify their personal triggers in addiction, manage cravings, set healthy boundaries, build self-esteem, and interrupt the relapse process. They are empowered to identify not simply as an “addict,” but as an “individual in recovery,” and are able to thrive in their newfound lifestyle. Women gain confidence in their abilities to change and to cope with challenges as they engage with life on life’s terms while enjoying the support of the treatment team and community. Throughout every phase of treatment and recovery, they have the level of support necessary to help them be most successful.

Embracing the 12 Steps

Women’s residential treatment at Northbound is founded on the principles of the 12-Steps. Our clients are guided through each of the steps and learn how these principles apply to their life and recovery. In the evenings, they attend local 12 Step meetings and join in fellowship with others who are working the steps.
