Finally there is a urinalysis test for SPICE or K2!!!
Redwood Toxicology Labs just came out with a metabolite test for the drug commonly known as SPICE or K2. The NEW JWH-018 & JWH-073 URINE METABOLITE TEST costs $50 and detects the synthetic cannabinoid in SPICE. JWH-018 & JWH-073 are the primary synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists responsible for the “high” in SPICE and K2, which is sold in head shops across the nation and has been a thorn in the side of addiction treatment facilities over the last year. These compounds are sprayed on smokable substances to create the high associated with SPICE and K2. Other names the drug goes by are: K3, Genie, Smoke, Pot-pourri, Buzz, Pulse, Hush, Mystery, Earthquake, Ocean Blue, Stinger, Serenity and many others.SPICE has been a thorn in my side for the last year. It’s been incredibly difficult to deal with from a treatment operations perspective. I often referred to SPICE as a drug rehab killer, because it was undetectable in urine tests, was cheap, and could legally be bought at head shops. With the new Urine Test from Redwood Toxicology Labs we can send a client’s urine into the their lab and simply check off a box asking them to test for SPICE and they can track it up to 72 hours in the urine. So, if a client has used SPICE within 72 hours of the urinalysis test they give, the test will detect it.I have talked to Redwood Labs and they said that there is one other company that just developed a test for SPICE, but it does not test for the metabolite involved, making Redwood’s test superior and at $50 it is cheap!Finally addiction treatment facilities around the nation can breath a sigh of relief and tackle the growing SPICE epidemic in addiction treatment facilities head-on.
