Ryan Ruiz

Prior to Northbound, Ryan worked with residential patients suffering addiction and broad range of co-occurring disorders. He uses a multi-disciplinary approach using one or a combination of methodologies including but not limited to Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Mindfulness, and CBT.

Ryan received his bachelors in Psychology and master’s in Counseling from Humboldt State University.

Ryan’s focus on trauma and “self parenting” (teaching the client how to better guide and take care of themselves) help his clients to feel empowered and confident that they can make the healthy and responsible decisions that carry over after treatment. He prides himself on his ability to understand where the client is coming from and to choose a modality based on what fits for the client.

Paul Alexander is the founder and CEO of Northbound Treatment. He received his Certified Addiction Treatment Specialist training at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA, and was awarded Outstanding Alumni Service Award in 2002. Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology, Law and Society, Summa Cum Laude, from University of California, Irvine, and a Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles. He believes wholeheartedly in transformational leadership, organizational health and effective, fully integrated substance use disorder treatment.
