Addiction recovery is about more than abstinence from drugs and alcohol. It is about creating a substance-free lifestyle while fully engaging in all the healthy opportunities that the world has to offer. Obtaining and maintaining employment is an important aspect of many adults’ lives, and one that builds precious self-efficacy for those in early recovery. Northbound’s Careerbound® program empowers clients to build a sustainable lifestyle of recovery through securing gainful employment while continuing to participate in treatment. This transitional living service is available to our clients at both the inpatient and outpatient level of care. Re-entering “real life” post treatment is a challenging and risky time – Northbound’s Careerbound® program bridges this transition with the accountability and support necessary to give each client the best possible chance for success.

Re-Entering the Workforce After Addiction Rehab

During addiction treatment, your primary focus is on your recovery and learning the strategies necessary to prevent relapse and develop a thriving sober lifestyle. Transitioning back into the community and implementing these skills is challenging and is a time research has shown to pose high risk for relapse. You do not have to navigate this transition alone. Through enrolling in Northbound’s Careerbound® program you will have access to workshops, mentoring, and career-oriented services to help you get back to the workforce, all while participating in well-rounded clinical programming to ensure your recovery remains the priority and decrease the likelihood of relapse. Whether you are looking for a very first job, seeking a career transition, or returning to the job you held upon entry to treatment, the Careerbound® program is here to assist you.

How Does Careerbound® Support Life After Rehab?

Balancing Dual Diagnosis and Employment

Northbound understands the impact that mental health disorders can have not only on addiction, but on your life after rehab. If you have a dual diagnosis, getting involved in the Careerbound® program can help you to better manage your mental health and addiction recovery as you return to work. You will still have weekly meetings with your therapist and counselor and participate in structured groups to address relevant issues and support both relapse prevention and mental well-being.

Is Careerbound® the Right Program for Me or a Loved One?

Research has shown employment to be helpful in sustaining long-term recovery. That said, the transition from treatment to the workforce can be overwhelming, and poses a heightened risk for relapse. Many people experience anxiety about how they will manage this transition and achieve both their professional and recovery goals.

Northbound’s Careerbound® program can help you face bravely into these reasonable fears and make the transition into a fully autonomous life much easier. Careerbound® is one of Northbound’s signature services that can be integrated into any core treatment program (residential or outpatient) to provide a truly individualized experience and comprehensive support. If you are ready to take the next step in your life and return to work or find a new job, this transitional living program can provide you with the support you need to balance your work, personal, and recovery life, and maximize your chances for success.
