Northbound’s Substance Abuse Treatment Programs work. Our clients get well, and families heal as a direct result of what is at times a challenging journey together. Whether you have a drug addiction, are struggling with alcohol abuse, or are experiencing a co-occurring disorder, we offer a variety of different drug programs in Los Angeles and across California. We offer substance abuse treatment programs at different levels of care so you can find an individualized substance abuse treatment plan that’s best for you.
Our foundational Southern California alcohol and drug programs and signature services are 100% tailored to the needs and complexities of each individual who walks through our doors. Whether it be a 4-day stay in our California-based Detox Program or a layered curriculum that might involve staying with us in one of our highly successful inpatient substance abuse treatment programs that are coupled with a signature service such as our trademarked Careerbound®, Trauma, or Music Programs.
Our commitment is to help take participants through their active addiction to the first critical milestone of achieving one year of continuous sobriety and beyond, where we may serve as somewhat of a checks and balances system. After our patients go through detoxification, we guide them through behavioral therapy and teach them prevention techniques so they can achieve long-term recovery after their substance abuse treatment prevention and treatment program has ended.

Co-occurring disorders occur when the individual suffers from both a substance abuse addiction as well as mental health disorders.
That is why we have developed a curriculum for our substance abuse programs that almost serve as an à la carte menu to address the unique needs that you may have within the duration of your journey. Our mental health and substance abuse treatment programs provide help for both conditions. While you may just come to us for Detox, which can be as brief as four days, many individuals enroll in our residential rehabilitation treatment program and are with us all the way to their milestone of achieving one continuous year of sobriety and become active participants in our thriving alumni community.

Medically Assisted Treatment
Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) is the use of medicines in a drug or alcohol
treatment regimen. As well as a substance abuse treatment prevention and treatment program at Northbound.

Northbound Treatment Services® employs evidence-based practices, so we know that medications can be a helpful and sometimes essential aspect of a treatment regimen. Professional recommendations are made after intensive, individualized assessments considering factors including drug abuse patterns, past treatment experiences, relapse history, projected course of care, family and peer support, recovery prognosis, financial feasibility, and client preference. Clients are educated on the advantages and risks of various MAT protocols and are included in collaborative treatment planning identifying the course of care that will best meet their unique needs. This program enables those in treatment to enroll in school—whether that’s a local college, university, or trade school—and includes the guidance and mentoring they need to succeed.

Music Program
The music program at Northbound empowers clients to engage with music and promote healing through self-expression, complementing other therapies to create a personalized approach to addiction recovery.
Careerbound®
Our proprietary work program empowers those in recovery to secure employment—with the help of a Northbound career counselor—while continuing to thrive in their sobriety.
Trauma Program
Individuals who have suffered psychological trauma and who are chemically dependent require an integrated treatment approach, so we are focused on identifying and treating trauma symptoms as well as dependency.
Family Program
Over the course of four days each month, family members come together to reconnect with the person in treatment, repair relationships damaged by drug and alcohol abuse, and learn about the roots of addiction.

We understand that this can be a confusing time and there are many questions to be answered. Entering addiction treatment is a new experience for many people, and every rehab is different. From cost of treatment, to what to expect once you are at Northbound Treatment, our Frequently Asked Questions will provide you with answers to some of your initial questions.
- Picture ID
- Insurance card and RX card, if applicable
- Insurance Subscriber’s Social Security Number and Date of Birth (if applicable)
- A limited amount of clothing, as we have a limit of two suitcases and one carry-on. Laundry facilities, including supplies, are available for resident use. Irons and ironing boards are accessible, but we suggest bringing wash-and-wear clothing, for convenience. Dry cleaning services are not available.
- Swimwear
- Outdoor accessories such as sunglasses, hats, sunscreen, and rain gear
- Medications, which must be approved by a Northbound Treatment physician. Medicine must arrive in bottles labeled with your name as well as the medicine’s name, dosage, and frequency
- Supplements, which must arrive in new, unopened containers
- Electronic devices, including cell phones and laptops -checked in upon admission and returned upon clinical review and approval
